Here are the details regarding the proposal review process:

Each proposal will receive a double-blind review by one or more members of IARSLCE and/or other volunteer-scholars in the SLCE field. Proposal submitters are encouraged to participate in the review process; doing so does not represent a conflict of interest, nor will it have any bearing on the decision-making process of the committee. Members of IARSLCE’s Conference Content and Special Programming Committees have joined forces to plan the fall gathering in lieu of a traditional annual in-person conference; they will review the reviews, make final decisions and organize the program for the gathering.

In addition to the criteria noted above for each proposal type, all proposals will be evaluated according to the extent to which they: 1) are clearly and compellingly written; 2) are research-focused; 3) consider the ethical implications of the research; and 4) address issues that are important to the field.

In order to encourage participation from as many scholars as possible, as well as to facilitate the scheduling of presentations, individuals will be limited to TWO presentations at the gathering (posters and/or lightning talks and corresponding conversations). They may be listed as authors on more than two submissions.

Each criterion will be reviewed using the following scale:

1: The proposal does not adequately address or meet the criterion

2: The proposal adequately addresses or meets the criterion but could be more developed

3: The proposal fully addresses or meets the criterion

N/A: Not applicable or relevant to this proposal

Reviewers will have the opportunity to provide qualitative feedback on each proposal, as well.
