Participation Policy Compliance Deadline: April 15, 2026.
All session chairs, moderators, discussants, presenters, and panelists must be members of the Canadian Sociological Association (CSA) and register for the applicable Conference section (virtual or in-person). Those not in compliance by the deadline will be removed from the Conference Program.

CSA Membership
Applicable to those participating in one or both Conference sections; virtual (June 2 - 4, 2026) and/or in-person (June 10 - 13, 2026).
All participants in a session (chair, moderator, discussant, presenters, panelists, and keynote speaker) must be a member of the Canadian Sociological Association.
The first step is to ensure that your membership is in good standing throughout June 13, 2026. This may require that you enrol as a new member of the Canadian Sociological Association or renew your membership if it is set to expire prior to the Conference. Membership renewal will be possible 45 days prior to the expiration date.

Canadian Sociological Association Membership is independent of Conference registration.
Conference Registration
Once your membership is confirmed, you may proceed to register for the Conference. There are different fees and registration procedures based on the Conference section.
Registration opens on January 28, 2026.
Conference registration refund requests will be subject to a $15 administrative fee, however, refunds will not be possible after April 15, 2026.

Virtual Conference Section
Register for this section if you are only participating in the virtual sessions (June 1 - 5, 2026) as a chair, presenter, or panelist and are not attending the in-person conference (June 10-13, 2026) at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The in-person conference registration (see below) includes complimentary virtual conference registration.
Those attending virtual sessions as observers only are not required to register for the virtual conference section.
Fees are subject to 13% HST sales tax for Ontario.
Conference registration refund requests will be subject to a $15 administrative fee, however, refunds will not be possible after April 15, 2026.

In-person Conference Section
Everyone attending the in-person Conference section from June 10 - June 13, 2026, at Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia must register for this section.
Members of the Canadian Sociological Association (CSA) benefit from reduced Conference Fees.
Fees are subject to 14% HST sales tax for Nova Scotia.
Conference registration refund requests will be subject to a $15 administrative fee, however, refunds will not be possible after April 15, 2026.
Registration opens on January 28, 2026.

Community Pass
The Canadian Sociological Association (CSA) is introducing a pilot program for the 2026 Conference offering a limited number of 'Community Passes' to attend the in-person conference being held at Dalhousie University from June 10 - 13, 2026.
Applications must be submitted to the CSA Conference Planning Committee. If approved, applicants will be provided with instructions on the event registration process. The Community Pass fee will be $20.00 CAD plus applicable taxes and fees.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must not be listed in the Conference Program as a co-author or presenter, chair, discussant, panelist, or session organizer.
Applicants must self-identify in one of the categories below.
Community Pass Categories:
Indigenous, Black, or racialized community members who are not currently enrolled students nor employees in a post-secondary academic institution. OR
A family member or friend attending to observe a specific presentation/presenter. CSA presenters may complete this form on behalf of their family or friends.
Applications will be reviewed by the CSA Conference Planning Committee. If approved, registration instructions and invoices for the Community Pass will be forwarded on or about May 4, 2026 for payment before May 31, 2026.
