Meeting Details

The HiRO Annual Symposium brings together the Canadian community of cardiogenetics specialists, researchers, patients, families and industry partners, with a goal to improve the care of families with inherited heart disease. Learn more and see details of past meetings here.

The 2024 HiRO Symposium will take place June 6-8th 2024 in Toronto. We're excited to be welcoming international guest speakers Dr. Dominic Abrams (Boston Children's Hospital) & Dr. Cindy James (Johns Hopkins University). The theme of this year's meeting is "The Promise of Novel Therapeutics and Gene Therapy for Inherited Cardiac Conditions".

Venue

On Friday June 7th, the meeting will take place at the InterContinental Hotel. The reception dinner will take place within a few minute walk from the InterContinental Hotel. On Saturday June 7th, the morning session will also take place at the InterContinental Hotel, and patient forum will take place at the InterContinental as well.

Pre-Symposium Research Meeting:

New this year, we will be hosting a pre-symposium research meeting the afternoon of Thursday June 6th. This meeting will also take place at the InterContinental Hotel. Everyone is invited to join for the research meeting for updates on Canadian clinical trials, research registries and new study proposals. There will be a Thursday dinner for those attending the research meeting.

Accommodation

We have partnered with the InterContinental Hotel to offer a discounted rate of $339 per night to HiRO Symposium attendees. This venue will be at the same place as the hotel. Click here to book your discounted room directly online. The room booking deadline is May 1st 2024.

Travel Scholarships

Thanks to generous donations to the HiRO Karen Gibbs Bursary Fund, we are able to offer a limited number of travel scholarships for allied health, research coordinators and/or trainees who don't otherwise have institutional funding available to attend the meeting. Applications for the travel scholarships can be submitted here, with a deadline of April 19th 2024.
