50th Annual Northern Doctors Day
On behalf of the Prince George CME Planning Committee, we are delighted to invite you to join us for the 50th Annual Northern Doctors Day.
For five decades, Northern Doctors Day has brought together physicians, residents, learners, and healthcare partners from across the North to connect, learn, and celebrate the unique challenges and rewards of rural and remote medicine. This milestone year offers an opportunity to reflect on our shared history while looking ahead to the future of healthcare in northern communities.

Meet the Speakers
Considered one of the best female hockey players of all time, Dr. Hayley Wickenheiser has won seven world championships, made six Olympic appearances, and earned five Olympic medals —four of them Gold. She is a titan of sport and a leader both on and off the ice.
A first-ballot Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, Wickenheiser’s hockey IQ is highly respected in both the male and female game. She has played in/coached at four NHL development camps with the Philadelphia Flyers, the Edmonton Oilers, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
She is currently the assistant general manager of player development for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Wickenheiser announced her retirement from the national women’s hockey team in 2017. Alongside her career in the NHL, she is now also a medical doctor practicing family and emergency medicine in the Toronto-area — a pursuit she had dreamt of her whole life. She published her first book, Over the Boards: Lessons from the Ice in 2021.
In addition, Wickenheiser is a member of the Order of Canada, a retired member of the International Olympic Committee’s Athlete’s Commission, member of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame, and founder of The Canadian Tire Wickenheiser World Female Hockey Festival.
Dr. Gillian Hanley, PhD, is an Associate Professor department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of British Columbia and the Executive Director of the Women’s Health Research Institute. She is a Canada Research Chair in Population-based Gynecologic and Perinatal outcomes, and an international leader in ovarian cancer prevention. Her research combines her training in economics, health services research, and epidemiology to answer questions related to gynecologic cancer, primarily ovarian cancer prevention and survivorship. Her work has been cited in national and international clinical practice guidelines recommending opportunistic salpingectomy.
Dr. Heather Stuart is a Surgical Oncologist at BC Cancer and Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, Canada. She completed a Master of Science in tumor cell biology, medical school at the University of British Columbia and a General Surgery residency at the University of Calgary. She finished a fellowship in Complex Surgical Oncology at the University of Miami and spent time at the Centre of Excellence for Neuroendocrine Tumors at Uppsala University in Sweden. She is currently a clinical associate professor at the University of British Columbia with a clinical and academic practice focusing on GI and cutaneous malignancies. She is passionate about cancer prevention and optimizing care so has been excited to work with the gynecologic oncology group to help spread knowledge and awareness about opportunistic salpingectomy
