Evaluations

If you are a student, here is some guidance on what the judges are considering when evaluating your oral presentation or poster.

Abstract

  • Well written with proper spelling and grammar

  • Authorship includes supervisor(s)

Oral Presentations

  • Presentation has a logical flow, speaking is clear and confident

  • Slides are clear and there are appropriate number

  • Graphics are clear, reasonably sized, and support the research being presented

  • Scientifically sound, able to answer questions if asked

  • Speaker finishes on time

Poster Presentations

Please note that posters may be assessed with and without students present - your poster should be understandable even if you're not there.

  • Sections are well-defined with balanced content and space

  • Graphics are clear, reasonably sized, and support the research being presented

  • Scientifically sound

Posters

We invite poster presentations on any of the special session or general session topics. Poster boards will be available for set up after 2 p.m. on Friday, but must be taken down at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Poster boards have a 4 feet x 8 feet horizontal display area mounted on a 6 foot high frame and posters can be attached using push pins (provided).

There are four student awards available to be won:

Best Undergraduate Poster - Rob Raeside Award

Best Graduate Poster - Graham Williams Award

Best Undergraduate Student Paper (Presentation) - Rupert MacNeill Award

Best Graduate Student Paper (Presentation) - Sandra Barr Award
