May 29, 2026

Welcome to our Scientific Communications Workshop "How clear science communications can combat misinformation" registration website.

We are excited to have you join us for UBCO Diabetes, Obesity & Metabolism Research Day 2026, where experts and advocates come together to share knowledge, research, and innovations in diabetes, obesity and metabolism research.

As a registered meeting delegate, we are offering a post-conference scientific communications workshop. This special event is sponsored by UBC's BC Diabetes Research Network.

About the Workshop:

Join Krista Lamb, science communicator for a workshop aimed at communication tools. This session looks at the current state of confusion around what’s real and what’s not when it comes to science. From deep fakes to fake news, it offers updates on some of the biggest issues scientists are managing online, and provides strategies to tackle them. Incorporating ideas that go beyond social media, Krista Lamb shares tips and tricks on how to successfully use AI tools, create IRL opportunities and find personalized approaches that work for your individual science communication strengths.

Workshop Objectives:

-       Understand the current state of misinformation in science

-       Learn ways to share your science that encourage trust

-       Discover science communications strategies that reduce stigma and build community

-       Create the framework for a personalized communications strategy

We hope you will be able to join us for our post-conference breakfast and scientific communications workshop on May 29.

Space is limited, so register early to avoid disappointment.
