Guyana is rapidly scaling new hospitals, telemedicine, and digital health infrastructure while training a new generation of health workers. BRT 2026 lets you learn within a health system actively re‑designing how surgical care is delivered nationwide.

The 2026 theme, “From training to transformation: Advancing surgical care through global partnerships and local innovation,” focuses on moving beyond one‑off courses to approaches that change how care is delivered and sustained. Sessions will showcase concrete examples of education, mentorship, and twinning programs that have led to measurable improvements in services and equity.

BRT brings together surgeons, anesthesiologists, obstetricians, nurses, trainees, public health practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and digital health innovators around a shared goal: expanding safe surgical care for underserved populations. You will engage in plenaries, workshops, and informal discussions that address clinical, policy, workforce, financing, and technology dimensions of surgical systems.

The meeting format prioritizes time for networking, co‑design workshops, and both South-South and North-South exchanges. You will have space to form collaborations that continue after the conference, rather than collecting one‑off contacts.
