Visiting Prince Edward Island
The Canadian Historical Association is thrilled to hold its upcoming annual meeting in Charlottetown. The event will take place at the University of Prince Edward Island from June 1-3, 2026. The CHA has not met in Charlottetown since 1992, so this will be the first Prince Edward Island CHA annual meeting for most of our members. We hope to see you there!

Prince Edward Island is one of Canada’s most beautiful provinces, and is reachable by a number of direct flights from across Canada. UPEI itself is easily accessible from the Charlottetown airport, and has many on-campus accommodation options.
Visit Tourism PEI to discover everything you need to know about travel, accommodations, and tourism ideas. (Annual meeting attendees may also appreciate the "History and Culture" section!) Discover Charlottetown also has lots of recommendations for local events and food options.

Transportation in Charlottetown
It is about a 30-minute walk from UPEI to downtown Charlottetown. Bussing takes 10 minutes, and Route #1 ("University") runs between UPEI and downtown regularly. A bus trip costs $2.00, and route schedules can be accessed at Transit PEI.
Charlottetown's taxi drivers have been notified of the annual meeting dates and will keep an eye on incoming flights, so they should be nearby if needed. Uber does not operate in PEI, but there is a very similar ride-sharing service called Kari. You may wish to download the Kari app before arriving.
