Poster Session

A quick guide to the poster session
The poster boards will be around 170cm (5’7”) wide, so posters should be no bigger than 160cm (5’3”) wide.
Here are some general poster-presenting tips :
Practice actively inviting visitors to your poster. When people approach, offer to give them the 2-minute tour of your poster. Practice explaining your findings in 30 seconds.
Wherever possible, use data visualisations or maps in place of tables.
Have a few small colour prints of your poster to hand out.
If consultation is a goal of your poster presentation, hand out your contact information and ask people to get in touch (e.g., business card, QR code)
Have a digital copy of your poster ready to share to a mobile device.
Include any co-authors, acknowledgements, references, and funding organisations on the poster.
Tips
Software: Many programs can be used, each with its own advantages: PowerPoint (well-known), Canva, Inkscape (free), etc.
Font size: At least 30pt for the main text. Smaller fonts may be used for references and other less critical details.
Poster Printing: We recommend saving your poster in PDF format for printing. If you are unsure where to have your poster printed, Staples (Bureau en Gros) is a simple and reliable option.
