Discovery Day 2026

Submission guidelines

To complete your Discovery Day registration and abstract submission, please have the following information available:
- First Author Information: Name, email, trainee status, institution, and department.
- Abstract Information: Poster title, abstract (300-word maximum), and research theme.
- Mentor and Co-Authors: Complete author list in order, including mentor’s and co-author’s affiliations and email addresses. The mentor must be a faculty or staff member at Drexel or another institution and cannot be a trainee.
- Presentation Options: Select your presentation format (in-person or virtual), indicate whether you wish to be considered for an Oral Platform Presentation (if eligible), and whether you would like to participate in the poster competition (in-person presentations only).
- Submission Attestations: Confirmation of mentor and co-author approval, eligibility, compliance with IRB/IACUC requirements (if applicable), recent work, first-author submission limits, and whether the project used TriNetX.
- Poster Upload: A poster upload is not required at the time of abstract submission. A draft poster (PDF, maximum 100 MB) must be uploaded by October 20, 2026.

Faculty, senior trainees, and invited guests are encouraged to volunteer as abstract judges.
- Faculty members and external alumni
- Senior graduate students (year 3+)
- Post-doctoral fellows (basic science posters)
- Residents or fellows (clinical posters)

Venue Entrance: Please enter through the Broad Street Entrance (131 N. Broad Street). The entrance between Arch & Race Streets provides the most direct access to the Terrace Ballroom.

Recommended Parking: The Gateway Parking Garage (1540 Vine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102) is located directly across from Drexel's New College Building (NCB). The garage entrance is on Spring Street between 15th and 16th Streets. From the garage, it is approximately a two-block walk to the Convention Center.

Public Transportation: Drexel students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to use the Dragon Route (Center City Loop) and Queen Lane Route (East Falls Loop). Both buses stop on Vine Street between 15th and Broad Streets, which is within walking distance of the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The Convention Center is also within walking distance of the SEPTA's Race-Vine and Jefferson stations.lace it with the relevant text.

Who is eligible to submit an abstract to Discovery Day?
The first author must submit the abstract and must also be one of the following:
- Graduate students at Drexel University College of Medicine
- Graduate students at Drexel University whose mentors are College of Medicine faculty
- MD students at Drexel University College of Medicine, including those who complete projects at another institution (see below for additional details)
- Postdoctoral fellows at Drexel University College of Medicine
- Residents and fellows at Drexel University College of Medicine affiliate sites
- Undergraduate students who conducted research with a Drexel University College of Medicine faculty member

Can I present more than one abstract?
Presenters can be the first author on only one poster; however, they can co-author more than one abstract. It will be considered a breach of professionalism if a presenter attempts to submit two different abstracts using different email addresses, and those abstracts will be administratively withdrawn.

Can this work or poster be presented at another meeting (past or future)?
Yes. Discovery Day is an institutional event; however, the abstracts submitted are not considered formal publications that could impact one’s ability to present or publish the data in other venues (past or future).

Can I present work completed at another institution?
Yes, you can submit an abstract to present a poster but not a platform (oral) presentation. Be sure to include all institutional affiliations on the poster.

To facilitate the approval of your entry, please accurately complete the abstract submission and include email addresses for all authors. The mentor at the institution where the work took place must review and approve the submission.

While work completed at other institutions is eligible for poster presentations, only work completed at Drexel University College of Medicine will be considered for platform (oral) presentations.

How recent must my work be?
The poster must include at least some component completed in the last 12 months.

What type of abstracts are eligible for presentation at Discovery Day?
Abstracts on basic, translational, clinical, epidemiological, or educational research are eligible, as are those focusing on community projects and case reports.
