Welcome to the 23rd Annual Pitt Department of Medicine Research Day!

We are pleased to announce that the 23rd Annual Department of Medicine Research Day will take place on Monday, April 28 2025, at the Petersen Event Center.

The annual event showcases plenary and poster presentations to highlight the breadth and depth of current research being conducted by clinical residents, junior faculty, fellows, graduate students, and trainees in the Department. At the end of the event, awards are given to the highest rated poster presentations.

Research Day 2025 Keynote Speaker:

The Department of Medicine is pleased to welcome Anna Greka, MD, PhD.

Dr. Greka is a physician-scientist, a Professor at Harvard Medical School and Mass General Brigham, and a Core Institute Member of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where she also serves as a member of the institute’s Executive Leadership Team.

Research Day

8:30am - 3:00p
All DOM faculty and staff are welcome and encouraged to attend these events. The events showcase plenary and poster presentations to highlight the breadth and depth of current research being conducted by clinical residents, junior faculty, fellows, clinical fellows, residents, graduate students, and trainees in the Department. At the end of each event, awards are given to the highest rated poster presentations.

PostDoc Career Session

3:30pm - 5:30pm

All DOM postdocs are welcome and encouraged to attend this event. In addition to networking with your current peers, several former Department of Medicine (DOM) postdocs will be invited back to talk about their career paths, and to take part in career-based discussion panels with current DOM trainees. Sessions will include talks from former trainees who have transitioned to independent academic positions, along with postdocs who have moved into industry, government, and scientific writing/communication. The event will be followed by a social and networking reception.

Resident/Clinical Fellows Session

3:30pm - 5:30pm

Research is an essential part of most academic fellowship training programs, and there is a lot to consider in the transition from fellowship to early career faculty that applicants do not always know to ask about. This session will be geared toward residents interested in pursuing a sub-specialty fellowship and staying in academic medicine.

Networking Reception in the Baseline Club.

5:30p - 8:00p

Food and drinks will be served and there will be a cash bar for alcohol.
