8th Annual Postdoctoral Science Symposium

The Annual Postdoctoral Science Symposium (APSS) was initiated on August 4th 2011, by the MD Anderson Postdoctoral Association to provide a platform for talented postdoctoral fellows to present their work to a wider audience.

APSS organizes a scientific symposium that incorporates all Texas Medical Center affiliated institutions. Our goal is to provide postdocs across the entire Texas Medical Center a unique opportunity to learn, interact and foster new collaborations.

Our Keynote Speaker this year will be Michelle Barton, PhD. Our invited speakers are Alessandro Grattoni, PhD and Ilya Levental, PhD. In addition, each year we have breakout sessions during lunch that cover topics of interest for postdoctoral fellows. For example, last year our breakout sessions were: "Lessons on responding to peer review" and "Communicating, promoting science: using social network platforms to discuss science". This year the topics covered will be: "Negotiation skills for your career and a better work-life balance" and "Grants: Navigating the process pre and post award".
