The Environmental Monitoring Committee invites you to the seventh annual EMC Public Meeting. This is a fully virtual event so you can attend from anywhere!

Preview the posters from this website and register now to join us on Thursday, November 4 from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm for live virtual posters sessions followed by a Q&A session with our EMC Committee members to learn about environmental monitoring required by Permit 107517 and results from 2020 monitoring activities.

If you have questions on any of the poster topics, send them to the EMC Event Team (info@emcelkvalley.com) before the meeting, or you can ask an EMC member live on November 4.

How to Join the Event

Step 1 - Register

You must register to join this event. Click on the green Registration button above.

For new Registrants, go to Step 1a.

Step 1a - For new Registrants - Create and Activate an Account

If you are new to this EMC Public Meeting virtual platform, once you register, you will be sent a confirmation email. When you click on the link in your confirmation email it will launch the activation window where you set a password for your account.

Step 2 - Preview Posters

Visit this site under Meeting Topics to preview the posters and send any questions you might have.

Step 3 - Sign In on November 4

Come back to this website on November 4 and sign in to your account.

Step 4 - Go to the Schedule Page

The Schedule page has the Zoom link for the Public Meeting.

How it Works

• Join us in the EMC Zoom Room where the EMC Event Team will greet you. We'll welcome all event participants and provide an overview of the poster topics and introduce the poster hosts.
• From 6:15 pm - 7:00 pm, you can shift among breakout rooms and visit different posters.
• At 7:00 pm the breakout rooms close, and all participants are sent back to the EMC Zoom Main Room.
• From 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm MT the EMC and posters hosts will take questions.

About the Environmental Monitoring Committee

The Environmental Monitoring Committee (EMC) was created as a requirement in Permit 107517 in 2015. Permit 107517 is a regional permit for the Elk Valley that was issued to Teck for its steelmaking coal operations. This permit was issued by the provincial government under the BC Environmental Management Act.

The members of the EMC include an independent scientist and representatives from the provincial government, the Ktunaxa Nation Council, and Teck. The EMC provides technical advice on the environmental monitoring programs required by Permit 107517.
