The European Association of Dental Public Health

The EADPH was established in 1996 as an international and independent, science-based forum for professionals & stakeholders with a distinct interest in dental public health and community dentistry.. The primary objective of EADPH e.V. is to advance dental public health, which the association defines as both the science and art of preventing oral diseases, promoting oral health, and enhancing quality of life through the organised efforts of society. This endeavour encompasses not only initiatives directed at entire populations but also those targeting the diverse groups and individuals that comprise these populations. This pertains not solely to actions aimed at populations in their entirety but equally to the specific groups and individuals within those populations.

Welcome Message from the EADPH President

It is my great pleasure and privilege to welcome you to the 30th EADPH Congress in Timișoara, Romania. This year’s event holds special significance as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of EADPH—Europe’s unique and leading association dedicated to dental public health.

For three decades, EADPH has brought together oral health professionals, researchers, and policymakers through our annual meetings, fostering collaboration and innovation. Our association has played a pivotal role in key European activities, shaping education, advancing research, and working closely with sister organisations to promote oral health as a public health issue across the continent.

We are particularly delighted to gather in Timișoara, a vibrant and welcoming city known for its rich cultural heritage and dynamic atmosphere. The local organising committee led by Dr Roxana Oancea along with the EADPH board have done an outstanding job in preparing a stimulating scientific program and a memorable social experience. Their dedication ensures that this congress will be an exceptional opportunity to learn from leading experts, expand professional networks, exchange best practices, and share the latest research findings.

Oral health reflects the broader equity of our societies. While scientific knowledge has advanced, persistent disparities remind us that access to oral health care, to prevention, and health outcomes are deeply influenced by political, economic, and social structures. Addressing these inequities requires collective effort to connect scientific evidence with policy action and community engagement.

In Timișoara, we will explore how research, policy, and practice can intersect to create meaningful change. The congress will consider how political and structural determinants shape oral health, and how a public interest research agenda can better respond to populations needs. We will also reflect on the challenges posed by misinformation and disinformation, and the importance of citizen participation in building trust and legitimacy in public health policies. Achieving Universal Health Coverage demands collaboration across sectors and disciplines. By sharing knowledge, experiences, and diverse perspectives, we will be able to identify new pathways to reduce inequities and improve oral health for all.

This year’s congress promises to be a landmark event, reflecting the strength and diversity of our field. I am confident that the discussions, collaborations, and insights gained here will inspire us all to continue advancing oral health in Europe and beyond.
