Not just one slice of it: the whole arc, from the physics of light capture through image processing, display, and human perception, to the machine intelligence that increasingly interprets the images we create.

EI is the only major symposium that treats the entire imaging chain as a single, coherent discipline. What you find here - researchers working on optics at the same table as AI engineers, perceptual scientists in conversation with display technologists, the intersection of academia and industry - simply does not exist anywhere else at this scale.

EI is organized by IS&T, the Society for Imaging Science and Technology, a non-profit professional community dedicated to advancing imaging in all its forms since 1947.

Symposium Organization

The IS&T EI Symposium serves as the umbrella event, bringing together a broad range of imaging-related research communities. The symposium is organized into eight thematic tracks, each representing a major area of focus within electronic imaging. Every track is supported by one or more source conferences, which contribute papers, presentations, and technical content aligned with that topic. This structure enables related conferences to collaborate under a common framework while preserving their individual identities and areas of expertise.
