Workshop: Job Crafting for a Sustainable Scientific Career, Maja Tadić, Institute of Social Sciences Ivo Pilar

Early academic careers are demanding - publication pressure, job insecurity, and heavy workloads can, over time, undermine researchers' well-being, mental health, motivation, and sense of purpose. This interactive workshop introduces job crafting, an evidence-based approach to proactively reshaping tasks, relationships, and boundaries that structure daily academic work, to sustain work-related well-being alongside scientific goals. Building upon the research on job crafting and boundary-setting, the session combines brief theoretical input with experiential exercises inviting participants to reflect on their own work patterns and consider how they might be reshaped. The aim is to offer participants a clearer perspective on job crafting as a strategy for a sustainable scientific career, and opportunities to consider how it might apply within their own research environment.
