The challenges

The Science POP contest offers 3 distinct challenges, each testing a different science communication skill. These are briefly described below. See Challenge Information for more details.

The challenges

Outreach challenge

OBJECTIVE: Explain a central element of your research project

Candidates taking up this challenge will have to demonstrate their pedagogy and creativity in explaining a key notion of their research project, in clear, simple and accessible language.

Outreach challenge

Media challenge

OBJECTIVE: Attract journalists' attention to your research project

To meet this challenge, you'll need to put your communication skills to good use by first writing a press release highlighting the importance of your research. Then, during the competition, you'll have 2 minutes to grab the audience's attention with a presentation similar to a pitch.

Media challenge

Sustainable health challenge

OBJECTIVE: Demonstrate your commitment to sustainable health

To meet this challenge, you'll need to present a personal initiative that you propose to develop in the near future, or that you implemented less than a year ago, to put science to work for society and health.

Sustainable health challenge
