Submission Guidelines
Oral and Poster Presentations
Abstract submissions for oral and poster presentations are invited for the 2026 Helen Glass Research Symposium: Insight to Impact: Advancing Nursing’s Future Through Research, a one-day research conference focused on translating evidence into meaningful impact for nursing practice, education, and research, as well as healthcare policy and communities.
Concurrent sessions presentations will be 12 minutes in length, with 3 minutes for questions. Posters will be available during wellness breaks and lunch.
The abstract submissions will be accepted from February 18, 2026 to March 18, 2026.
Abstracts must not exceed 300 words (excluding references, if included).
Authors are asked to select one primary stream for their concurrent session abstract submission:
1. From Evidence to Impact: Research in Practice and Policy
Research that informs nursing practice, education, policy, and health system decision-making, including:
Practice-based research and quality improvement
Implementation and knowledge translation
Policy-relevant and system-level studies
Evaluation of practice or education innovations
2. Innovation and the Future of Nursing
New ideas, tools, and approaches shaping nursing practice, education, or research, including:
Digital health, AI, simulation, and virtual care
Innovative educational or service delivery models
Innovation in nursing or health research methods
Ethical/social implications of innovation
Preparing nurses for emerging and evolving roles
3. Equity, Partnership, and Community-Engaged Research
Research grounded in equity, relationship, and lived experience, including:
Indigenous and decolonizing research approaches
Health equity, EDIA, and anti-racism scholarship
Client-, family-, & community-partnered research
Participatory and qualitative methodologies
4. Graduate Students and Emerging Scholar Submissions
Graduate students and early-career scholars (graduated from doctoral program in past five years) are encouraged to submit abstracts to any stream. Authors may identify their submission as a Graduate & Emerging Scholar abstract. These submissions may be grouped for dedicated session(s).
Abstracts should use the following headings and clearly address:
Purpose: Study purpose or key research questions/hypotheses
Methods: Study design, sampling, data collection and analysis. For works-in-progress and non-research submissions, please outline approach to the project (e.g., quality improvement, literature review, methodological innovation, etc.)
Findings: Summarize key findings or the anticipated outcomes for works-in-progress projects.
Implications: Outline the main implications for nursing practice, education, research, health policy and/or communities.
References (if included): Please use APA format.
For abstract authors, please include only first name, initial (optional), and last name.
Abstracts will be reviewed based on:
Clarity and coherence of the abstract
Alignment between purpose, methods, findings/anticipated outcomes, and implications
Relevance to the selected conference stream
Significance for nursing scholarship, practice, education, healthcare policy, and/or communities.
Authors will be notified of the review committee's decision by March 27, 2026.
Workshops
Abstract submissions for workshops are invited for the 2026 Helen Glass Research Symposium: Insight to Impact: Advancing Nursing’s Future Through Research. There will be a total of two workshop spots available at this year's symposium.
Each workshop will be 90 minutes in length and will be interactive.
Workshop submissions will be accepted from February 18, 2026 to March 18, 2026.
Abstracts must not exceed 300 words (excluding references, if included).
Abstracts should use the following headings and clearly address:
Aim: Aim of the workshop and its activities.
Target Audience(s): Who would benefit from attending the workshop (e.g., graduate students, nursing faculty members, clinicians, decision makers)?
Activities: Describe the activities that will occur during the workshop, including didactic and interactive activities. It is expected that at least 50% of the workshop will engage the audience (e.g., pair and share, group work, audience participation activities).
Anticipated Outcomes: Outline the anticipated outcomes for workshop attendees, such as knowledge, skills, or awareness, within the context of nursing practice, education, research and/or health policy.
