Travel Awards
The Helen Glass Research Symposium is pleased to offer travel awards through the generous support of the Helen Glass Research Symposium Endowment Fund. These awards are aimed at supporting individuals from outside the City of Winnipeg to attend the 2026 Helen Glass Research Symposium, scheduled for May 12th, 2026, at the University of Manitoba.
Purpose:
To financially support attendance at the 2026 Helen Glass Research Symposium for individuals living outside the City of Winnipeg and presenting at the conference.
Eligibility Criteria:
Individuals living outside of the City of Winnipeg (beyond 75km)
Individuals NOT employed by the University of Manitoba
Accepted for an oral presentation, poster, and/or workshop at the 2026 Helen Glass Research Symposium.
Nurses, clinicians, educators/researchers, administrators, and/or students are eligible.
Do not have access to other sources of travel funding.
Award value: Up to $800 for flight (if applicable), mileage (at $0.50/km), accommodation (up to 2 nights), per diem (Breakfast: $15; Lunch: $15; Dinner: $30 - $60/day max.) and ground transportation costs (e.g. taxi/ride share). Successful applicants will be provided a promo code for free registration for the event.
Funding: Priority for this funding will be given to individuals who have not received other sponsored travel awards through their employer or other funds (such as the University of Manitoba’s College of Nursing travel awards, MNU conference travel awards, workplace continuing education funds, etc).
How to apply: Applicants are required to submit the following:
Name, Position/Title, Affiliation, and Contact Information (address, phone, email)
A travel budget that itemizes all applicable pre-conference expenses (e.g., flights, mileage, accommodation, etc.).
Abstract of the accepted paper/poster/workshop.
Brief statement (max 300 words) of how attending and presenting at the 2026 Helen Glass Research Symposium will support you in advancing your career and/ or work in nursing.
A statement confirming that they do not have access to, or have not been awarded, travel funds through their employer or other sources to present and/or attend continuing education events in the past 12 months.
Please put all material into one Word or PDF file labelled with “HGTravel_LastName”.

Funding guidelines and information
Travel must occur between May 10th and May 14th, 2026.
The applicant must be presenting a paper or a poster as first author or co-author at the 2026 Helen Glass Research Symposium.
Decisions concerning the awards will be made by April 13th, 2026
