15th International Myotonic Dystrophy Consortium Meeting

Saguenay
May 26-30, 2026

Welcome to IDMC-15 — the 15th International Myotonic Dystrophy Consortium Meeting

We are delighted to invite you to the 15th edition of the International Myotonic Dystrophy Consortium (IDMC) meeting, which will be held in the Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean region of Québec, Canada.

This region is internationally recognized as having the highest prevalence of myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) worldwide and has been a hub of research activity since the 1980s. Notably, one of the longest-running natural history studies of DM1 was initiated here in 2002, and the region is home to the Groupe de recherche interdisciplinaire sur les maladies neuromusculaires (GRIMN), a leading center for neuromuscular research.

Beyond its scientific legacy, Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean is renowned for its natural beauty and welcoming community. The region provides an ideal setting for both scientific exchange and collegial interaction. Importantly, the strong engagement of the local patient community will enrich the meeting by offering direct perspectives from individuals and families living with DM1.

IDMC-15 will provide a unique opportunity to learn about the latest advances in research and clinical care, foster collaboration, and strengthen connections among all stakeholders in the field of myotonic dystrophy—including researchers, clinicians, patients, patient partners, advocacy organizations, and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry.

The program will feature state-of-the-art presentations, interdisciplinary sessions, and stimulating discussions. Participants will also gain insight into the history of DM1 in Québec, learning directly from those who have shaped awareness, care, and research trajectories through evidence-based knowledge and long-standing community partnerships.

We look forward to welcoming you to this memorable and scientifically enriching meeting.
