2022 Meeting of the International Society for the Biology of Actinomycetes (ISBA)
Welcome
My Dear Colleagues –
I’m thinking back to the 2017 ISBA banquet in Jeju and the exciting announcement that the next Symposium would be in my hometown. Little did we know what was around the corner! After all the postponements, it’s very exciting to see the 19th symposium come to fruition. The pandemic is not over and we need to keep that in mind. One huge loss that most of our colleagues from China are unable to attend. That includes seven speakers and one of our original plenary lecturers. But the fact that we can move forward at all seems like an extremely good sign. It certainly feels like we’re moving out of the worst. We should take a moment to be thankful for that.
I must offer my sincere thanks to the session chairs, the ISBA Advisory Board and the members of my lab for their help setting things up. And to all of you – faculty, postdocs and students - who have kept the faith in this venerable symposium this past two years.
With that said, I look forward to welcoming you all to Toronto.
