The 16th International Seagrass Biology Workshop (ISBW16) and 2027 World Seagrass Conference (WSC2027) take place in Abu Dhabi, 22-26 March 2027. We seek to discuss, evaluate, and energise the debate around the global challenges to understanding, protecting, and enhancing the resilience of seagrass ecosystems. Our aim is to impact in helping to ensure their survival and the countless benefits they provide to both nature and humanity.
We welcome submissions for original contributions to the scientific sessions - including oral presentations, workshops, and posters - via this online system. All participants, including abstract presenters, must also complete their registration using this platform.
When submitting your abstract for review, you will be asked to please select the theme or session that best fits your talk. This will be used to group similar talks together into sessions and will facilitate review of abstracts.
Our Planned Scientific Sessions encourage submissions that use innovative approaches, integrate multiple disciplines, and address applied challenges in seagrass conservation and management.

Conference Registration Opening Soon
Registration for the 16th International Seagrass Biology Workshop (ISBW16) and 2027 World Seagrass Conference (WSC2027) is planned to open 01 October 2026. We have published our Registration Categories and Fees, and applicants seeking early-career travel support are encouraged to apply during registration.

The 16th International Seagrass Biology Workshop (ISBW16) and the 2027 World Seagrass Conference (WSC2027) will take place in Abu Dhabi from 22-26 March 2027.
Abstract submissions here are open until 15 December 2026. The Scientific Committee will provide a decision within two months of each submission.
All presenters will be notified of abstract acceptance at the latest by early January 2027
Registration will open 01 October 2026 and Early Bird Rates apply until 31 December 2026, after which standard rates will apply.
The full programme will be published by mid-February 2027. In the meantime, you may view the provisional programme here.
Abstracts must be submitted online through this official ISBW16 submission portal here. You will need to create an account, complete the submission form, and upload your abstract before the deadline.
Abstracts should follow the guidelines provided here on the ISBW16 website, which you can review before submitting. The abstract submission form here on this portal is straightforward and includes all word limits, required sections, and formatting information.
You may submit an abstract for an oral presentation, short oral presentation, poster presentation, or workshop/demonstration. The Scientific Committee will make the final decision on presentation type.
When registration opens, it must be completed online through this official ISBW16 registration portal here. All delegates, including presenters, must register to attend.

If you need an official invitation letter for visa or speaker‑permit purposes, you may request one during the registration process here. You will be prompted to provide passport number, date of birth, nationality, and any additional information for the organising committee to provide the official letter required.
