Lakeside Protein Toxins and Effectors 2026
Announcing the 2026 #LakesidePTE Conference, a meeting focused exclusively on the topic of Microbial Protein Toxins and Effectors. This four day conference to be held in Southbridge, Massachusetts in the Fall of 2026 will feature scientific discussion on secreted toxins and effectors, focusing on mechanisms and structure. Topics will include cytotoxic and cytopathic effects on eukaryotic cells, but also interbacterial and interkingdom competition between microbes. The goal of the conference will be to provide a venue for the exchange of ideas, approaches, and knowledge in this highly interdisciplinary field of Toxin Biology that spans Biochemistry, Cell Biology, and Microbiology.
Keynote Speaker
Prof. Dr. Stefan Raunser is Managing Director of the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology, Adjunct Professor at Technical University Dortmund and Honorary Professor at University of Duisburg-Essen. He is a structural biologist who develops and uses a multi-disciplinary approach, including biochemical reconstitutions, high-resolution electron cryomicroscopy (cryo-EM) and electron cryotomography (cryo-ET) to investigate the structure of macromolecular complexes that play a crucial role in disease. His toxin biology work focuses on structure, mechanism of action and secretion of the Yersinia Toxin Complex (Tc) toxins.
