Mining the Connections

Mining the Connections is an international and multidisciplinary conference gathering academic researchers, students as well as government representatives, Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members, NGOs and mining companies to discuss mining developments and its impacts.

This international conference explores the many connections between mineral extraction, local communities, and the environment from a multidisciplinary perspective. It seeks to build and increase connections between governments, researchers, NGOs, practitioners, and community representatives from around the globe, in order to increase knowledge of mining development and its impacts. In addition to more traditional presentations, the event will feature workshops on key themes: Working with Mining Companies, Post-mining futures, IBAs implementation. These workshops will allow researchers, advocacy groups, mining and community representatives to exchange on these topics.

Finally, post-conference activities on mining sites will be offered on mining sites.

The conference will be hosted in Quebec City, Canada, on April 25-27. This will be a hybrid event with in-person and online presentations.
