Data Protection Notice - Medical School Conference, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery

The organisers of the Malta Medical School Conference, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Malta, collects and processes personal data submitted via our Online Electronic Registration Service in line with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation - GDPR) and all applicable EU and Maltese data protection laws.

We collect and process your personal data to:

  • Provide information upon your enquiry;

  • Register you for conferences, seminars, or events we organise;

  • Effectively manage these events, including preparing participant packs, coordinating catering and transport (where applicable), and finalising event finances.

We retain your data until all related financial matters are settled. This processing is necessary to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract, to fulfil our contractual obligations if you become a client, and to serve our legitimate interest in organising and delivering events efficiently.

As a public institution, the University of Malta is legally mandated to promote and disseminate knowledge. The organisation of public conferences, seminars, and events by UM Faculties, Departments, Institutes, and affiliated entities is part of this public interest mission, and data processing for these purposes is carried out accordingly.

Your personal data is accessible only to UM employees who require it to perform their official duties. We do not share your data with third parties except:

  • When it is necessary for the effective delivery of our services;

  • To comply with legal obligations;

  • Or when we have your explicit consent.

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data;

  • Request correction of inaccurate data;

  • Request data portability;

  • Request restriction or erasure of your data (where applicable);

  • Object to the processing of your personal data.
