2021 MSC·SMC Symposium
Access to the Symposium
This year's virtual symposium will primarily be hosted on the Fourwaves online platform, while oral presentations and workshops will be in the form of Zoom Webinars.
Once registered to the event, sign in to your Fourwaves account (if you do not have this set up, check your inbox for a confirmation email) to view the full program, gain access to the Zoom Webinar links and participate in the virtual poster session. The abstracts, descriptions and virtual material of oral and poster presentations, exhibitor booths and workshops can be viewed directly on the Presenters & Exhibitors page.
To access the oral presentations on Zoom, visit the Symposium Program page and click on the zoom link associated with the current live session (note that each session is assigned a unique room).
During the virtual poster and exhibitor sessions, you will have the opportunity to initiate a video conference with the presenter directly on the Fourwaves platform. This can be done by clicking on “Call presenter” (if you are the first attendee) or "Join Discussion" (if there is a discussion already underway) button, which will appear on the poster abstracts that are associated with the session.
Should you run into any technical issues on the day of the event, you can seek assistance from our Technical Help Desk through this zoom link: https://mcmaster.zoom.us/j/99447561762
MSC General Assembly Meeting
The MSC invites all its members to participate in the annual General Assembly Meeting on Thursday June 3rd 4:15-5:15 pm EDT. Zoom link can be found in the full Symposium Program.
Welcome!
The Microscopical Society of Canada and McMaster University are delighted to welcome you to the 2021 MSC·SMC Symposium page! Due to the continued impact that the pandemic is having on travel and gatherings, the annual symposium will be held virtually for a second year in a row. While we hoped to be able to hold the symposium in presence, we could not ignore our duty to ensure the safety of all attendees.
We are looking forward to providing a virtual event that will be engaging and stimulating. To this end, we are working on creating an experience that not only provides the attendees with high quality video feed and enhanced accessibility features for the oral presentations, but also recreates some of the spaces that allowed individualized discussions with poster presenters and exhibitors.
The 2021 MSC·SMC Symposium is a community event, and in this spirit we invite you to participate in our Symposium by submitting your abstracts, delivering an oral or poster presentation, organizing a workshop, exhibiting a virtual booth, sponsoring the event, and in the spirit of community, we invite you to become part of this journey by submitting your abstracts, giving a talk, presenting a poster, exhibiting a booth, sponsoring the conference, or by simply attending.
We thank you in advance for your support. Sincerely,
Jose Moran-Mirabal, PhD
2021 MSC·SMC Symposium Chair
