Oral Presentations

Oral Presentation Format

  • Unless otherwise stated, oral presentations are allotted 15 minutes, which includes your presentation (12 mins), questions (2 mins), and transitioning to the next presentation (1 min).

  • Widescreen (16:9) presentation format is recommended. Standard (4:3) format is also acceptable.

Oral Presentation Equipment and Venue

  • Professional audio-visual services will be stationed in each presentation room (Explorer Katimavik A, B and C).

  • Presenters will have access to a podium equipped with a reading light, laptop controls, microphones, and a laser pointer.

  • Presenters are asked to arrive at the presentation room at least 15 min before their session to introduce themselves to the session moderator and familiarize themselves with the presentation area.

  • Session moderators will introduce speakers, closely monitor the timing of presentations, and manage audience questions to keep the program schedule on time.

  • Personal laptops may not be used for presenting.

Oral Presentation Submission Instructions

  • Please upload your presentation files to Fourwaves no later than Friday, June 12 at 11:59 PM Mountain Daylight Time.

  • Instructions for logging into Fourwaves and editing your submission are available here: https://help.fourwaves.com/en/articles/8760924-edit-my-submission

  • Once you have accessed the ‘Edit submission’ page, scroll to ‘Presentation File Upload’ to upload your file(s), then click ‘Save form’.

  • Presentation files should be named after the main presenter as follows: FirstName_LastName (e.g., Peter_Pan.pptx)

  • Any presentations not submitted online by the deadline will need to be brought on a USB key to the Welcome Desk in the Explorer Hotel the day before your scheduled session during the following hours:

    • Monday - 12:00-16:30

    • Tue-Wed - 08:30-15:30

  • Presentations will not be accepted via email.

Poster Presentations

Poster Presentation Format

  • Posters can be set up during lunch (12:00-13:30) on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Caribou Room and in the lobby outside of the Caribou Room. Assigned spaces on the poster boards will be labelled with the presenters name and poster title.

  • Maximum poster size is 105 cm by 105 cm. Please ensure your poster does not encroach on someone else’s space or overlap the edges of the board. 

  • Presenters are responsible for printing and bringing their own poster. Options for printing in Yellowknife include KopyKat North and CanArctic Graphics.
