Transportation to the welcome reception will leave from the Explorer Hotel and Chateau Nova Hotel beginning at 4:45pm. Dress for being outdoors and expect sun and mosquitos. We kick off a full week of activities with a welcome reception at Wıìlıìdeh (Yellowknife River), traditional site of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation. Programming includes a drum dance, feeding of the fire, cultural demonstrations and a locally sourced feast. This is an alcohol-free event. Meal options for specific food allergies and dietary requirements will be available. Don’t forget to try the signature (alcohol-free) drinks: The Tundra Trekker - A crisp and refreshing northern-inspired botanical cooler featuring wild harvested NWT berry syrup, Labrador tea, and bright citrus notes. Finished with sparkling water and aromatic rosemary, this drink captures the spirit of travelling across the open tundra under northern skies. The Lichen Grazer - A smooth and comforting northern cream-style mocktail inspired by the flavours of the boreal forest. Creamy oat milk blends with fireweed honey, spruce tip syrup, and vanilla for a subtly sweet and earthy drink reminiscent of caribou grazing grounds.
