About the event

This symposium will be held Tuesday, November 18th through Thursday, November 20th. The purpose of this three-day symposium is not only to provide a space for NPP Fellows to share their science, but also to provide a forum for Fellows to network with each other and attendees from the broader NASA science community. We have a variety of both pre-recorded and live presentations, and we are excited for you to attend virtually!

Meet Our Speaker:

Dr. Edward (Eddie) Schwieterman is an Associate Professor of Astrobiology in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the University of California, Riverside. He holds dual B.S. degrees in Physics and Astrophysics from the Florida Institute of Technology, an M.S. in Astronomy from the University of Washington, and a dual title PhD in Astronomy and Astrobiology from the University of Washington. Dr. Schwieterman employs computational methods, including climate, photochemical, and spectral models, to better understand the composition, evolution, and remote signatures of terrestrial planetary atmospheres. He has a particular focus on understanding the origins, survivability, detectability, and specificity of potential exoplanet biosignatures, partly via analogy to the (bio)geochemical evolution of Earth and other worlds in the Solar System. Dr. Schwieterman has served both as a NASA Postdoctoral Program Fellow and an Advisor, and he looks forward to sharing his insights on addressing both sides of this equation.

We are still offering our live oral presentations, live poster sessions, and pre-recorded posters. Additionally, we have eight "live" poster sessions. Each day you will find on the schedule a 20-minute viewing period where you may view live posters. We have asked live poster presenters to be available for 1-2 of these viewing sessions to answer your questions live during viewing.
