Beyond the Mask: Recognizing Autism in Adults and Implementing Practical Modifications based on Co-Design

Autistic adults are invariably already present within general psychological practices, yet their needs frequently go unrecognized due to clinical masking (camouflaging traits to fit social expectations). This talk provides practical considerations for clinical psychologists to enhance their recognition of late-identified autistic adults and thoughtfully adapt their therapeutic approaches across specific modalities (e.g., CBT, ACT, DBT) and more general therapeutic process.
