Processing Emotion, Transforming Trauma: Mastering Emotional Processing in Brief and Standard Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD (Master Clinician Session)

Presented by: Dr. Sheila Rauch

Prolonged exposure (PE) therapy- also known as Processing Emotions Therapy- has over 30 years of research supporting its effectiveness to reducing PTSD and related issues even with complex client presentations. Despite this strong support, access to PE for those suffering with PTSD is low.  Many factors contribute to this low access including few providers with training in PE. In this session, Dr. Sheila Rauch will present key skills in using PE through videos presenting these skills. She will examine these skills across multiple effective models of care including standard weekly PE, brief Processing Emotions in Primary Care (PEPC), and massed models.  She will discuss the skills and issues that may arise in using the skill then present video examples and leave room for audience discussion and questions.  Focus will include examination of Emotional Processing Theory as applied to PTSD and effective treatment.
