WELCOME
The Physician Affiliate Group of New York, P.C. (PAGNY) is excited to welcome you to our brand-new, online abstract submission platform. On this website, you can submit your abstracts, posters, slides, and necessary IRB approval documents for Research Day. You can also obtain real-time updates, view a list of participants, explore research content, and register for the in-person event. Additionally, you will have access to previously unseen event photographs and research compendiums from 2018 to 2022.
Since 2016, PAGNY's Annual Research Day has provided a space for PAGNY physicians, NYDA dentists, and other health professionals across all affiliated hospitals and clinics to share their research, scholarship, and creative endeavors across our organization.
Each year, a board of esteemed physicians and researchers review projects focused on identifying innovative strategies to improve the physical and mental health of the most vulnerable populations of New York City who have been affected by health disparities and are underrepresented in biomedical research. After two rounds of review, a panel of esteemed researchers from the New York City metropolitan area select the finest research projects.
In past years, three projects were honored for their particularly impressive research efforts and findings with cash prizes. Principal investigators will receive the cash prize and the opportunity to present their research projects at Research Day to peers, the PAGNY and NYDA Board of Directors, and other distinguished guests. All researchers whose abstracts are accepted will also be featured in the PAGNY Research Day Compendium.
This year, PAGNY is excited to announce that we are now accepting Case Reports/Case Series and QI/PI projects. Overall we will be honoring eight top PAGNY projects. The most successful submissions will receive a cash prize.
In addition, we have partnered with the Interdisciplinary Guided Network for Investigation, Translation and Equity (IGNITE). IGNITE will reward the top three scoring abstracts that utilize the All of Us Workbench Program for their projects with an additional $500 cash prize plus an honorable mention during the PAGNY Annual Research Day conference. The IGNITE program works with the NIH to promote the use of the All of Us Research Program data by many types of researchers.
The All of Us Research Program, a national cohort designed to reflect the rich diversity of our nation, aims to enroll one million participants, and has already recruited 647,000 participants, offering a unique and diverse research platform. The program is composed of participants who are underrepresented in biomedical research (80%) and 50% are of racial and ethnic minorities. The intentional recruitment of those underrepresented in biomedical research (UBR) supports the program’s overarching goal of democratizing a large, diverse dataset and providing a platform that would reduce health disparities and promote health equity. The program was developed on a set of core values, including that the data would be universally accessible for research purposes.
The All of Us Research Hub houses one of the largest, most diverse, and most accessible datasets ever assembled. It also provides an interactive Data Browser where anyone can learn about the type and quantity of data that All of Us collects. Users can explore aggregate data including genomic variants, survey responses, physical measurements, electronic health record information, and wearables data. Registered users can use the Researcher Workbench to dive deeper into the data; conduct rapid, hypothesis-driven research; and build new methods for the future, using a variety of tools.
