Join us in person at the NOSM U Sudbury Campus or Virtually on WebEx

Welcome to the Northeastern Ontario Palliative Care Conference 2025! This year, we bring you a bigger and better hybrid conference, as a result of the collaboration between the NOSM University Palliative Care SPC, and NNPCN-PCIEF Nipissing sub-region.

This year are excited to annouce our Keynote Speaker Yvonne Heath on the topic of Self-Care and Resilience when Dealing with Death and Illness. Other topics include Ontario Health Initiatives, Complimentary Care - Traditional and Alternative Medicine and a panel discussion with palliative care experts who will share their insights on education, system level changes and their clinical approach to care in a variety of settings.

Conference Learning Objectives:

  1. Effectively engage in difficult palliative conversations around discouragement and despair with patients and their families

  2. Enhance collaborative patient care and support by fostering an environment of empathy amongst a diverse clinical care team

  3. Discuss the larger role of community care in palliative care in rural Northern communities

Keynote Speaker

We are excited to announce our Keynote Speaker Yvonne Heath, author of Love Your Life to Death.

"In my almost 30 years of nursing and in my personal life, I have learned—the hard way—how being ill-prepared for grief, difficult conversations and transitions at end of life causes excessive suffering. For everyone. For the last 10 years, I have been learning and teaching healthcare professionals how we can do it differently. What if we normalized hard conversations with our patients? Should we live Proactively or Reactively? Let's Talk! "
