An Overview of PCSI
Patient Classification Systems International (PCSI) is an international organization that, since 1987, has brought together experts to improve the management and financing of health care and systems through patient grouping methods. It offers opportunities, in the form of conferences and summer schools, to share knowledge, develop new approaches and promote the use of these methods worldwide. The organization plays a critical role in advancing the understanding and application of patient classification methodologies globally.
The PCSI 2025 Conference
From September 10 to 12, 2025, the 37th PSCI conference will be held at the Quebec City Convention Centre under the theme: "Patient Grouping as a Driver of Value in Health: The Patient at the Heart of Our Decisions." The topics will be:
Innovations in case-mix, data and technology.
Advancements in coding, classification systems, and data quality.
Case-mix and costing beyond funding.
From case-mix to policy: the patient at the center.
Connecting funding with patient outcomes and quality of careUsing costing and funding to create value and demonstrate productivity.
Artificial intelligence & case-mix: in service of patient-centered care.
On September 9th, there will also be a day of pre-conference workshops.
Target audience: The organizers of the event, PCSI, the Ministère de la Santé et des Services Sociaux (MSSS) and their partner the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) estimate that approximately 250 people will participate in the conference: 75 people from the province of Quebec, 75 people from the rest of Canada and 100 people from the rest of the world with the following profiles:
Researchers in health economics, health management and population health.
Systems analysts of the case-mix, performance, costing and financing of health services, health information managers and coders.
Managers and leaders of health services and systems (clinical directorates, quality directorates, finance directorates, performance directorates, value management offices at the ministry, health agency and hospital levels).
