We are excited to announce the release of the Call for Applications for the Prisma Health Education and Research Institute (PHERI) Seed Grant Program - 2027. Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the Call, as several elements have changed from prior years based on applicant and reviewer feedback.
Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to plan early, including engaging collaborators and Prisma Health clinical stakeholders in advance of submission.
We invite you to join one of our upcoming pre-application information sessions in June and July. These sessions will highlight key program updates, include a live demonstration of the new online proposal submission platform, and offer the opportunity to engage directly with Prisma Health research leadership for Q&A. Refer to the Schedule for more information.

Seed Grant Program Overview
The Seed Grant initiative facilitates collaborative pilot research and scholarly activities supporting Prisma Health’s research goals and priorities and those of its academic partners (Clemson University, Furman University and University of South Carolina). Seed Grant recipients are required to disseminate their work locally, regionally, and/or nationally. Funded investigators are strongly encouraged to subsequently submit an extramural grant application informed by seed grant study findings.
Seed Grants in the areas of health system science; health care delivery innovation; community health, population health, and health disparities/equity; supporting the health care workforce, and basic science and translational research are supported through funding from Prisma Health and academic partners. Applicants may request a funding amount up to $50,000.
Call for Applications
The 2027 Seed Grant Call for Applications provides the complete guidelines and requirements for all proposal submissions, including eligibility, funding, and application instructions. The 2027 Seed Grant Call Addendum outlines additional, opportunity-specific funding requests with separate criteria and requirements that apply only to eligible applicants pursuing that supplemental support.
