Welcome to the 28th Annual International Workshop on Physical Processes in Natural Waters (PPNW2026)

We are pleased to announce the 28th Annual International Workshop on Physical Processes in Natural Waters (PPNW2026) that will also be the 30th jubilee (the first PPNW was held in 1996!). PPNW2026 will be held in Šibenik, Croatia, in the period  31 August - 4 September, 2026. 

The PPNW workshop focuses on physical processes in inland and coastal waters and their interaction with biogeochemical, atmospheric, and groundwater processes. We invite abstracts from all areas of physical limnology, including open-water and under-ice processes, sediment transport, modelling of physical dynamics, salt exclusion, suppression of turnover, salinity stratification, ebullition, and physical-biogeochemical interactions, in both natural and constructed water bodies and also pollution in any aquatic ecosystem. PPNW is an open workshop that actively seeks collaboration with related fields such as physical oceanography, atmospheric sciences, and engineering. The PPNW is a moderate-sized meeting of 40-60 participants, and it is designed to provide an atmosphere with enough time for a broad discussion and collaboration.

The deadline for abstract submission is 15 April 2026. PPNW2026 will host a special session on Saline lakes and coastal lagoons.
