Science POP - CRCHUQ

Welcome!

The CHU de Québec-Université Laval (CRCHU) research center is proud to participate in the 2022-2023 edition of the pan-Quebec Science POP competition, an initiative of the Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) and is very pleased to welcome you to its institutional competition!

This internal CRCHU competition is a public, free event, organized in partnership with the Fondation du CHU de Québec. It will highlight innovative health research work as well as our next generation of scientists for their qualities as speakers, their commitment to improving care and sustainable health and their dedication to sharing the results of their work with the society.

Who can participate in the contest by taking up one of the 3 challenges?

The 2nd and 3rd cycle student community as well as postdoctoral researchers under the direction of a researcher mostly affiliated with the CRCHU are invited to take up the challenge of their choice. The competition will be hosted in French and the use of French for the visual support and the oral presentation is recommended; it is however possible to make the presentation in English. A simultaneous translation service will be available for the audience.

Evaluation and Prices

Candidates will be evaluated according to a specific grid (availiable here) by judges selected for each of the challenges. The judges will be mostly members of the CHU de Québec Foundation, members of the CHU users' committee, philanthropic personalities invited by our Foundation and members of the research center who will not necessarily be scientists.

For each challenge, the judges' evaluation grids will be compiled to establish the ranking and award a prize to the 3 best presentations. In addition, audience members will have the opportunity to indicate their level of appreciation for each presentation by assigning an online rating (1 to 5 stars). A special mention will be awarded to the candidate of each challenge who will represent the "People's favourite".

The winners of each challenge will receive a cash prize, awarded by the CHU de Québec Foundation, worth:

1st place: $500 — Finalist for the provincial Science POP competition
2nd place: $250
3rd place: $100
