The rapid transformation of the automotive industry towards greenhouse gas-free mobility continues to face major challenges. Customers are still hesitating between full ICE, hybrid and fully electric vehicles. Despite important progress in passenger cars, current full electric powertrains still struggle to meet the requirements of all vehicle segments. In addition, the cost of such vehicles remains significantly higher than equivalent conventional powertrains.
The European Commission continues to integrate flexibility into its regulatory roadmap: powertrain technology choices for 2035 and beyond are being reassessed. Other regions around the world are also developing their own pathways toward sustainable mobility.
How can we meet drivers’ needs across all vehicle categories? How can zero-emission vehicles become affordable for every market segment? How can European production competitiveness and technological sovereignty be ensured? How can sustainability in the automotive sector be further reinforced?
Energy distribution and storage, together with powertrain technologies, are key enablers to achieve these objectives across all mobility applications.
It is the role of the powertrain engineering community to identify and develop innovative solutions to reduce the CO₂ footprint of transportation and mobility. The challenge lies in maximizing efficiency while keeping costs under control throughout the entire powertrain lifecycle.
The 39th SIA POWERTRAIN conference will address the full spectrum of drivetrain technologies for applications ranging from short-range urban mobility to long-range commercial and off-road vehicles. The conference will include presentations and discussions on key powertrain topics such as batteries and energy storage systems, hydrogen powertrains, hybrid technologies, low-carbon fuels, electrified powertrains, combustion engine running on low carbon fuels, power electronics, energy distribution and sustainability.
The SIA POWERTRAIN conference is widely recognized by automotive stakeholders as a unique and exceptional technical event. International OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, engineering companies, research institutes and many other industry players will share their latest technologies, projects and results.
Once again, this edition will be held in Le Port-Marly, France, a strategic location at the heart of numerous automotive development centers, industrial plants and initiatives supporting next-generation powertrains. The conference also offers excellent networking opportunities to continue discussions with peers before and after the conference sessions.
Following the success of previous editions in Paris and Lille, which gathered around 500 attendees each, we are pleased to invite you to join us for this new edition in Le Port-Marly on March 24-25 2027.
For all types of powertrain topics from the smallest L7 vehicles to the largest buses and trucks — topics will include, but are not limited to:
Electric propulsion systems (including power electronics)
Batteries & electric energy storage systems
Hydrogen powertrains
Hybrid powertrains & low-carbon fuels
Eco-design, LCA, recycling and repairability
