The French Society of Plastics and Polymers Engineers (SFIP), in partnership with CNEP, Decathlon, Polymeris and Techtera, is pleased to announce the next edition of the SPIN Congress - Sports • Polymers • Innovation, to be held in Paris on 24 and 25 March 2027.
For the 2027 edition, the congress will take place at INSEP (the French National Institute of Sport, Expertise and Performance), one of France's most prestigious centres for elite sport. This unique venue, at the crossroads of sporting excellence and scientific innovation, will provide an exceptional setting for exchanges between researchers, industrial stakeholders and sports performance experts.
More than a scientific conference, SPIN 2027 aims to offer a truly immersive experience within the INSEP environment, providing direct exposure to athletes, state-of-the-art facilities and innovation processes underpinning high-performance sport. The event will also serve as a unique platform for sharing the latest developments, achievements and innovations, fostering dialogue between academic, industrial and institutional communities.
SPIN seeks to showcase the latest scientific and technological advances in polymer, composite and textile materials for sports and leisure applications.
At a time when performance, sustainability and responsible innovation are more important than ever, these materials play a key role in shaping the future of sport. Particular emphasis will be placed on health, inclusion and disability-related challenges, exploring how advanced materials can improve accessibility, support injury prevention and enhance performance for all users and athletes.
This new edition will cover the full spectrum of sporting activities, including land-based, aquatic and aerial sports.
From recreational activities to elite competition, modern sport increasingly relies on highly engineered equipment. Owing to their mechanical and physical properties, light weight, durability and design flexibility, polymer and composite materials make a significant contribution to the development of:
Sports equipment and accessories: balls, skis, rackets, bicycles, ropes, boards, watercraft and related products;
Personal equipment: technical apparel, footwear, protective gear, bags, helmets and wearable solutions;
Sports and leisure infrastructure: playing surfaces, tracks, structures, coatings and shared facilities.
By participating in SPIN 2027, attendees will have the opportunity to meet key stakeholders from across the sports ecosystem, engage in two days of knowledge sharing and networking, and discover how polymers, composites and textiles continue to drive innovation and transform sports performance.
We invite researchers, engineers, manufacturers, designers, athletes, healthcare specialists and innovation leaders to submit their contributions and join us in exploring the future of materials for sport.
