Welcome to the University of Kentucky College of Medicine (UKCOM) Fall Medical Student Scholarship Showcase!

Join us in celebrating the innovative research and scholarly work conducted by our UKCOM medical students. This virtual conference provides a platform for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and inspiring future cohorts of medical students. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to engage as we recognize—and help refine—the research efforts of our students.

Reviewers and Attendees:

Faculty, we invite you to participate as reviewers and/or active audience members, providing feedback, making connections, helping shape next steps, and celebrating the hard work of our students. Interested faculty, register to be added to our reviewers list! Reviews will be assigned the week of 7/20. Non-presenting students, you are invited to attend to learn from and support your peers!

Presenting Students:

This Showcase supplements existing opportunities by offering a space for meaningful feedback from faculty and peers. Submissions may reflect emerging or ongoing projects intended for future regional or national meetings. Preliminary data or findings are required; works-in-progress are welcome.

Abstract Submission Guidelines & Categories

For each category there will be a concurrent live presentation session of the top 5 selected abstracts on 8/28, 1-2pm. These will follow a standard 10 minute oral presentation format to help prepare students for regional or national conference formats. Additional abstracts in each category may be selected for presentation in the virtual poster hall, 2-3 pm. A student may only submit one abstract to be considered as an oral presentation and one to be considered as a poster presentation, for a maximum total of two presentations in the showcase.

Medical Education
Case Reports & Clinical Education
Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, & Environmental Sustainability
Health Services (which may include community engagement, public health, patient education, or service-oriented innovations)
