Urban Physics Summer School - UPSS 2027
Urban Physics Summer School 2027
An international specialized workshop for PhD students, postdocs and young academic staff
This 8th edition of the Urban Physics School is organized by Dominique Derome Université de Sherbrooke, Bert Blocken LUT University, Alessio Ricci IUSS Pavia and Jan Carmeliet, ETH Zurich.
Urban Physics is the science and engineering of the physical processes in urban areas. It basically refers to the transfer of heat and mass in the outdoor and indoor urban environment, and its interaction with humans, fauna, flora and materials. Urban Physics is a rapidly increasing focus area as it is key to understanding and addressing the grand societal challenges that are linked to sustainability: climate change, energy, health, security, transport and ageing. The main assessment tools in Urban Physics are field measuremens, full-scale and reduced-scale laboratory measurements and numerical simulation including computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Urban Physics is intrinsically mutidisciplinary and multiscale, as reflected by the topics of the program.
Urban Physics Summer School 2027 will be held on June 18-25, at the nature Resort Jouvence, in the vicinity of the Université de Sherbrooke. https://jouvence.com/en/
Preliminary program Arrival on June 18, Presentations and Workshops over 6 days June 19-24, Departure June 25.
Registration includes: course registration, course materials, accommodation (7 nights in double rooms (single room available with separate charge), all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), transport from/to Montreal airport, activities on the resort by a lake. Go to the Registration page for more information.
