RhetCanada Winter Showcase 2027

Join us for RhetCanada's Winter Showcase on Friday, January 15th & Saturday, January 16th!

We’re currently inviting submissions to our Winter Showcase, due by October 31st. We’ll later follow with more details on our Summer Conference, which will be held once again in collaboration with Canadian Association for the Study of Discourse and Writing (CASDW). 

About the Winter Showcase

The online Winter Showcase will feature two days of “lightning” (10-12 min) presentations. Presentations can be either short conference papers (i.e., research, argument, or exposition papers) or more casual Projects in Progress updates. We are hoping to have at least one “crossover panel” with CASDW to set the stage for our collaborative Sumer Conference. Please submit a short abstract (100-250 words) here between October 1-31st for consideration. 

Winter Showcase presenters may submit to the Summer Conference as well (submissions due January 30), as long as the latter submission substantially differs from their Showcase presentation. You will therefore be asked to check a box for whether you definitely, probably, or will not submit to the Summer Conference. The Summer Conference will be streamed, but won’t have online or hybrid panels, so please submit to the Winter Showcase if you know you won’t be joining us in Victoria. If you can’t present at the Summer Conference, we’ll take that into consideration, and it may increase your chance of acceptance. 

Winter Showcase acceptances will be released by November 21st; a maximum of 20-24 papers will be selected.

How to Pay to Attend or Present

Whether you're presenting a paper or simply want to attend, please Register for the conference as soon as possible (it's a quick and easy form). In the new year, please pay the yearly membership fee of $25 (students) or $55 (non-students) before the conference. We'll send reminders. The costs of attending or presenting is simply the yearly membership fee, which will not need to be paid for the summer conference. Physically attending summer conference will have an additional ticket price that reflects the food, rooms, etc.
