NOSM University and the Lakehead Obstetrics and Gynecology Local Education Group are pleased to invite you to the sixth annual Northern Ontario Women's Health Conference! This year we plan to be back in person so we can learn and network with our colleagues who provide care in the region.

Our mission, as always, is to bring together remote, rural, and urban primary care providers to network and share information related to Women's Health in our region. This year's conference will bring together regional expertise, complimented with expertise from our tertiary care referral centres to discuss pertinent topics to our patient population.

Who Should Attend

We invite all family physicians, specialists, midwives, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, allied health professionals, residents and medical learners to attend. We hope everyone will be eager to collaborate and learn together in person. See you there!

Program Learning Objectives

After this conference, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify common best practice approaches to the management of antepartum and intrapartum care. (Medical Expert, Scholar)
  2. Discuss common gynecological issues faced by women throughout their lifespan.(Medical Expert, Scholar, Health Advocate)
  3. Create a community of best practice for women’s health in Northwestern Ontario.(Communicator, Collaborator, Health Advocate)

NEW! We will be hosting a social after the conference. Cash bar and Hors D'oeuvres will be provided! We hope you can stay and mingle!

Cancellation Policy

Please find below the fees for cancellation. You will be refunded your registration fee less the amounts noted below.

  1. Up-to September 16th: $35.00
  2. September 17th to October 7th: $50.00
  3. October 8th to October 14th: No Refund

Pre-Conference Hormonal IUD Insertion Workshop

Please join us for a one hour pre-conference workshop on insertion and removal of hormonal IUDs. SPC Chair Dr. Amber Dudar will be delivering the didactic portion of the content and guiding participants through the insertion/removal techniques using models .

The workshop will begin with an introduction, explanation and demonstration of the insertion technique, followed by time for participants to actually practice on the provided models. Dr. Dudar and her co-presenters will be visiting each station to assist and provide immediate feedback to participants.

Event Time: Breakfast will be served from 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. EST - Pre-Workshop will begin at 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.

Workshop Learning Objectives

After this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Counsel patients on intrauterine contraception (IUC) as a long-acting reversible contraceptive method. (Medical Expert, Health Advocate, Communicator)
  2. Describe the mode of action, advantages and disadvantages and contraindications to hormonal IUD use. (Medical Expert)
  3. Practice placement and removal of intrauterine contraception devices. (Medical Expert, Health Advocate, Communicator)
