Attend the MyRoad Training Platform Launch in Toronto on May 29th

The MyRoad training platform in diabetes, obesity and cardiometabolic health (CIHR Health Research Training Platform) is excited to announce the upcoming platform launch event on May 29th, 2024 at the Chelsea Hotel in Toronto, Ontario.
MyRoad, in collaboration with the University of British Columbia, is calling for applications from graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and early career investigators to attend and participate in the event.
During the morning hybrid session, we will present the MyRoad Core Training Program (Fundamentals Level) with opening remarks from Dr. Mona Nemer, Chief Science Advisor of Canada, and Dr. Norman Rosenblum, Scientific Director at the CIHR Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes and a keynote presentation from Ken Steele.
An in-person afternoon session will be dedicated to trainees and early career investigators (ECI) and will offer a symposium on current concepts in Obesity, Diabetes and Cardiometabolism as well as networking and mentoring opportunities. (See the preliminary program).
The University of British Columbia’s Diabetes Research Network is offering travel awards for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and ECIs to attend in person the full day of the launch event. Successful applicants’ awards will cover accommodation for 2 nights and transportation. The costs of the event and meals on May 29th will be covered by MyRoad. MyRoad will also oversee registration and accommodation reservations for all participants.
To apply, please provide the following in a single document:
1. A brief statement on your current career path (your road)
Please write a summary of “your road” that includes your academic background, where you are, where you see yourself in the future, and what you hope to gain from this conference along that “road”. If relevant, please explain how your lived experiences have influenced your progress. The summary should be single spaced, 12-point Times New Roman, 2-cm margins, and be a maximum of 250 words.
2. A brief statement of significant achievements
Please provide a brief description of your most significant achievements so far (scientific or other) and how those achievements have prepared you for the activity you are applying for in the present call (maximum 250 words).
3. A brief description of contribution to academic and career progress
Please provide a brief description of how this award will contribute to academic and career progress (maximum 250 words).
The deadline for submissions is March 28, 2024. There are 2 places available for UBC trainees and post docs.
Selected candidates will be contacted by the end of March 2024. People who were not selected will be invited to attend the virtual part of the event.
