Online PreVenture Facilitator Training - September 2020

If you are a mental health practitioner, counsellor, teacher, social worker and/or prevention specialist, you can train to become a certified PreVenture facilitator and bring this valuable intervention to your community.

PreVenture is an evidence-based, brief intervention that uses personality targeted interventions to promote mental health and delay substance use among teens. The intervention is delivered to teens in a workshop format and is designed to help students learn useful coping skills, set long term goals and channel their personality towards achieving them.

About this Event
Over a 3-day period dive into learning about the evidence base and theoretical approach behind the development of the program. Let an Expert Trainer lead you through a hands-on practical experience delivering the PreVenture program using Motivational Interviewing (MI) exercises and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) principles*. The training will be delivered via Zoom.

As a Certified PreVenture Facilitator, you will be able to make a valuable contribution towards helping teens understand how their personality impacts their life and assist them with learning skills to help them make the best possible choices.

This event has been approved for 16 Continuing Education Credits with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

* If you do not have any previous knowledge of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches, we offer an online course that can be completed prior to the training event. This introductory level course includes an overview of CBT and basic counselling skills. It can be completed in an hour and a half and serves as an excellent compliment to the training.
