ABSTRACT GUIDELINE

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

Regular abstract Submission has closed. However, we are accepting late-breaking abstracts (LBA) to allow for high-quality projects to be disseminated to a global audience.

Submissions must be received by Sunday, July 9, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. (PST). Notifications will be sent to the primary presenting author of the abstract in mid-July.

Late-breaking Abstract Criteria:
• The work and/or update must be a high-quality, impactful research project, a theory-based scholarly project, or an evidence-based quality improvement project.
• The abstract must present timely findings that were not available at the time of the regular abstract submission deadline (May 31, 2023). The late-breaking abstract deadline is not intended to be a second deadline for abstract submissions.
A limited number of abstracts will be accepted for presentation.

NOTIFICATION TO AUTHORS:

● The AAPINA Abstract Committee will assign abstracts to either podium or poster presentations.

REGISTRATIONS BY PRESENTING AUTHORS:

● All presenters must register for the conference and pay the applicable registration fees.

● If the primary presenting author of an abstract is unable to attend the conference, the author should make arrangements for another individual to present the paper or poster, and that individual must register for the conference.

COPYRIGHT, PUBLICATIONS, AWARD ELIGIBILITY

● AAPINA will accept submission of abstracts on research/projects with designs, data or analysis that have been published or presented prior to AAPINA 2023 conference at regional/national venues.

● Abstracts and references should only be submitted in English.

● We request that authors include a notation in other abstracts/presentations that their abstracts were presented at the 2023 Annual AAPINA Conference.

● All abstracts accepted as podium/poster presentations will be eligible for the podium or poster awards at the 2023 Annual AAPINA Conference.

TYPES OF PODIUM /POSTER SESSION

● Research Projects, including clinical trials, feasibility studies, methodology, and implementation studies.

● Evidence-Based Practice (EBP)/Quality Improvement (QI) Projects

● Theory Development/Concept Analysis

● Systematic Literature Reviews

● Others, such as case studies, health policy/program development

* * Incomplete research/projects at the time of abstract submission will not be considered for a podium presentation.

* * Individual abstracts for completed or in-progress work are both eligible for poster sessions.

SELECTION CRITERIA

In addition, the Abstract Committee will use the following specific criteria when selecting abstracts for podium or poster presentation:

Research abstracts, including instrument development:

● Introduction/Background

● Purpose/Aim

● Methods

● Results

● Conclusions/Implications

EBP/QI Project abstracts include quality/process improvement, needs assessment, and program evaluation with no intention to generalize knowledge outside of the organizations.

(SMART Aim: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound)

● Problem/Background

● Project Purpose (EBP)/SMART Aim (QI)

● Methods/Implementation

● Results/Outcomes

● Conclusions/Implications

Theory Development/Concept Analysis abstracts:

● Purposes/Aims

● Description of theory or method/definition of concept

● Logic linking theory/concept/method to practice or research

● Conclusion with a statement about the utility of the theory/concept/method for practice or research

Systematic Literature Reviews abstracts

● Introduction/Background

● Purpose/Aim

● Methods

● Results

● Conclusions/Implications

Others (e.g., case studies, health policy/program development)

● Introduction/Background

● Purpose/Aim

● Methods (if applicable)

● Results/Findings (if applicable)

● Conclusions/Implications/Recommendation
