2023 SIM Expo

Welcome

Present your simulation research, developments, and innovations at Canada’s interprofessional simulation conference!

The SIM Expo is a unique hybrid of an academic conference, community networking event, and trade show. It provides an excellent forum to disseminate research findings to front-line simulationists, forge new collaborations, share knowledge, and demonstrate your exciting new simulation scenarios, programs, and achievements.

Key Dates

  • Call for abstracts: March 1st, 2023
  • Abstracts due: Sunday May 7th, 5pm EST
  • Notification of Acceptance: week of June 5th
  • RSVP & Registration of Presenters: Friday July 7th

Streams

There are two streams for abstracts: Simulation Research or Innovation & Implementation.

  1. The Simulation Research stream is for academic research into simulation-based education that generates new knowledge and understanding. The abstract review process includes scoring based on research rigour and breadth of applicability.
  2. The Innovation & Implementation stream is for demonstrations or presentations about innovative new sim scenarios, applications of simulation, curricula, etc., including quality/safety improvement projects. Some evaluation data is preferable but not required. The abstract review process includes scoring based on novelty, development process and evaluation.

Peer Review

All abstracts are reviewed by an interprofessional committee and rated for relevance, innovation and rigour. We would like to acknowledge and thank this year’s Expo review committee for helping to ensure the Expo has an outstanding and varied program.

Ethics

All abstracts must indicate that their local Institutional Review Board approved the study or that IRB review was not required based on guidelines in the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans.

Publication

Authors of accepted abstracts will have the option to publish their abstracts on the Cureus channel Annals of Simulation, a Canadian online open journal indexed by Google and PubMed Central.
