BiSP - MicrHub

Welcome to the 7th edition of BiSP (Integrative Bacteriology: Symbiosis and Pathogenesis), to be held on November 5 and 6, 2025 at the Centre culturel de l'Université de Sherbrooke! This event is organized in collaboration with MicrHub Sherbrooke (Sherbrooke microbiologists' association), which is taking advantage of the occasion to jointly hold the 3rd edition of its annual retreat on the afternoon of November 6.

More information on the event's objectives, speakers and schedule can be found on this site.

You can explore the content and view the list of participants. You can also register free of charge via this website and submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation.

The deadline to be considered for an oral or poster presentation is October 10 at 23:59.

Objective

The aim of this event is to bring together French-speaking researchers who are interested in microbiology to exchange and share research and results with the community. It's also an excellent opportunity for young researchers and students to raise their profile and make new connections across the network of French-speaking microbiologists.

Scientific themes to be addressed include, among others:

  • Environmental microbiology

  • Applied microbiology and bioprocesses

  • Infectious diseases

  • Bacterial, viral and fungal pathogenesis

  • Microbiome, virome and host-pathogen interactions

Program (see schedule for details)

The program will consist of oral presentations divided into 4 sections:

  • Microbial interactions and communities

  • Soils, plants, water and microorganisms

  • Molecular and applied microbiology

  • Host-pathogen interactions

We'll also have the chance to learn more about the research of our plenary speakers: Géraldine Laloux, Ph.D. from the Institut de Duve, UCLouvain in Belgium and Jesse Shapiro, Ph.D. from McGill University in Montreal.

There will also be a poster session, lunch and networking activities.

Please note that although the presentations in the MicrHub Sherbrooke section (November 6 afternoon) are reserved for Sherbrooke students, everyone is invited to attend!
