Strategies to challenge brain metastasis in mice and human

He will provide an overview of some of the most pressing clinical aspects related to brain metastasis and how they are engineering them in the lab to then exploit them to offer novel opportunities to challenge this unmet clinical need. His talk will be focused on recently published data including resistance to local therapies such as radiotherapy or neurosurgery, the discovery of alternative molecular mechanisms that impair brain function independently of the mass effect of the metastasis, as well as unpublished data on combined immunotherapies to target more effectively symptomatic brain metastasis and a novel preventive strategy to target brain metastasis before they become clinically relevant. Some of these experimental works are already in clinical trials, which will be presented as well.
