Colloque du 60e anniversaire du CEN 2021

Welcome to the Centre d'études nordiques' 2021 scientific meeting web site!

The year 2021 marks the 60th anniversary of our research center! You will find details of the planned celebrations, which will also be special due to the pandemic context, here below.

The symposium will be held on February 11 and 12, 2021. It will take place either completely virtual OR in a hybrid formula with face-to-face activities (small viewing groups) in several member universities of our network in Quebec City, Rimouski, Chicoutimi, Sherbrooke, Montreal and Trois-Rivières. The health measures in effect will be key. According to the evolution of the situation, we will advise you of the chosen formula during the month of January 2021.

Description

The Centre d'études nordiques (CEN) symposium highlights the contribution of CEN members and collaborators to the development and dissemination of Quebec's expertise in northern environmental sciences.

Registrations

Registration to the conference is free for all. However, for organizational reasons, it is necessary to register online by February 5, 2021.

Oral, poster and discours-express communications

IMPORTANT: You must have your abstract reviewed by your supervisor before submitting it on the registration form!

Oral communications

The evaluation criteria for abstracts are the following: CEN membership, quality of the abstract, link with CEN research axes, presentation of advanced results (end of the research project), academic progress. Abstracts submitted by individuals who are not CEN members will be judged according to other criteria. The title and abstract must be submitted in French.

Poster Communications

The poster session will be held on the Fourwaves virtual platform.

Posters may be presented in English or French, but oral presentations must be in French. The title and abstract must be submitted in French. The poster can also be a great showcase for a project presentation. The platform allows you to link your poster in PDF format, to add a short video (max 5 min) of your poster presentation, and to add additional visual elements (ex: figures). During the poster session, a link to your own virtual room will allow participants to interact directly with you to discuss or ask questions.

It is not necessary to be a member of the CEN to present a poster at the CEN colloquium.

Discours-express

The discours-express consists of a 2-minute summary of the subject of your poster, using 2 slides (PDF format) WITHOUT ANIMATION. The goal of the exercise is to practice respecting the time allotted while being clear and concise (we recommend that you do some practice beforehand!!). The speech is a kind of summary of your poster, with search results, and aims to emphasize the interest of visiting your poster. The title and abstract must be submitted in French.

The criteria for evaluating abstract submissions are: CEN membership, quality of the abstract, representativeness of the research field, progress of the scientific work. Abstracts submitted by individuals who are not CEN members will be judged according to other criteria.

Communication Grants

In order to support the improvement and enhancement of scientific communication (specialized and popularized) by CEN graduate students, the CEN will award communication grants to the persons having presented the best posters (MSc and PhD), discours-express and oral presentations at the symposium.

Refund Policy

As the conference will be held virtually or face-to-face in several cities, no travel or accommodation expenses should be incurred and will not be reimbursed.
